The Office of the Controller of Examinations (CoE) at Nallamuthu Gounder Mahalingam (NGM) College, Pollachi, enforces the following rules and regulations to ensure fairness, transparency, and administrative standards during Continuous Internal Assessments (CIA) and End-Semester Examinations (ESE).
1. General Eligibility & Attendance

Minimum Attendance Requirement: Students must maintain a minimum of 75% overall attendance in each semester to be eligible to appear for the End-Semester Examinations.

Condonation: Students with attendance between 65% and 74% due to valid medical reasons or official college representation may apply for condonation upon submitting necessary proof and paying the condonation fee.

Detention: Students with attendance below 65% will be detained and will not be permitted to take the End-Semester Examinations for that semester.
2. Hall Ticket & Entry Procedures

Mandatory Identification: Students must bring their official College ID Card and original Hall Ticket for every examination.

Verification: Hall tickets must be shown to the invigilator/squad upon request. Students without a valid hall ticket will not be admitted to the examination hall.

Reporting Time:

Forenoon Session (FN): Examinations start at 9:30 AM. Students must enter the examination hall by 9:15 AM.

Afternoon Session (AN): Examinations start at 1:45 PM. Students must enter the examination hall by 1:30 PM.

Late Entry: Candidates arriving late will be allowed entry only up to 15 minutes after the start of the examination, subject to the approval of the Chief Superintendent/CoE. No extra time will be allotted.
3. Conduct Inside the Examination Hall

Prohibited Items:

Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, programmable calculators, bags, books, notes, and electronic memory devices are strictly banned inside the exam hall.

Any possession of unauthorized study material or devices—whether used or unused—will be classified as malpractice.

Seating Arrangement: Candidates must sit only in their designated register-numbered seats as indicated on the hall seating display board.

Answer Booklet Handling:

Verify the register number, course code, and title pre-printed/written on the main answer sheet cover page.

Do not write your name or make distinguishing marks on any part of the answer sheet.

Do not tear or remove any pages from the answer booklet.

Leaving the Hall: No candidate is permitted to leave the examination hall during the first 30 minutes or the last 15 minutes of the examination session.
4. Malpractice Guidelines & Penalties
NGM College enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding academic dishonesty and malpractice during examinations.

| Possession of Unauthorized Material (Notes, mobile phones, crib sheets, written material on desk/body) | Cancellation of the specific examination paper and confiscation of the material. |
| Copying or Assistance (Copying from another student or assisting another student) | Cancellation of all theory and practical examinations taken during that current semester. |
| Misbehavior / Disobedience (Arguing, threatening, or disobeying invigilators or squad members) | Immediate expulsion from the hall, cancellation of the semester exams, and disciplinary committee referral. |
| Impersonation | Immediate expulsion, permanent debarment from the college, and police complaint, if applicable. |
5. Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) & Practical Exams

CIA Components: Internal evaluations consist of periodic mid-term tests, model exams, assignment submissions, and seminar presentations. Attendance and active participation are mandatory.

Practical & Viva-Voce:

Students must complete required laboratory experiments and maintain an up-to-date observation note/record book signed by the faculty-in-charge.

Certified record books must be produced at the time of the End-Semester Practical Examination.

6. Revaluation, Retotalling & Transparency

Transparency Photo Copy: Students can request a photocopy of their valued answer scripts within the stipulated date following the publication of results.

Revaluation / Retotalling: Applications for revaluation or retotalling must be submitted online through the student portal within the prescribed timeline after result declaration.

Supplementary Examinations: Special supplementary exams are conducted for outgoing final-year students with single-subject backlogs, subject to CoE notification and guidelines.
